In this election the republicans are stressing inflation as their reason to vote for them, and particularly why not to vote for democrats, whom they demonize as the cause of all our financial woes. This is an example of a political strategy used by them to take advantage of the public’s lack of understanding of basic economics.
Inflation is due to many economic factors that only manifest changes in our pocketbooks long after their outset. And, with this built-in delay, whichever party is in power gets the blame for the prior administration’s actions. Republican politicians at least know this enough to use it to their advantage, although none of their proposed policies will fix it.
But their tact is to whip up the public’s disfavor, and disappointment with the current leadership, and punish them by voting them out of office.
This unhealthy viscous cycle in effect uses issues as “ introductory offers” to muddy up the waters in an attempt to get our vote now, and have us pay the price of their other distasteful policies later. It’s one of the reasons why we often bounce back and forth over important issues in this country.
America nothing is for free, and introductory offers that come with small print at least need to be fully understood.
Peace and stay safe.
