“Appropriate”

This is the word we use in Medicine when the overall response fits the situation. And, it represents taking all relevant information available into consideration before making any decision.
All “professionals” must act appropriately.
Law enforcement officials are “professionals” and must do the same.
Apparently 18,000 independent police precincts have never been given general standards or protocols upon which to operate when it comes to the use of force.
It is clearly time to provide this information to all these professionals, because up until now we never did. Hard to believe, but not really when you consider the risks they take to protect us, and the fact that their profession acted independently over all these years.
